My Favorite Miss USA Winners

Favorite Miss USA Winners Anyone that knows me knows that I am a huge fan of pageantry. One of my all time favorite pageants, however, is the annual Miss USA Pageant. I love the Miss USA Pageant system because it is all about female empowerment. Each and every Miss USA Contestant is encouraged to be unapologetically 100% herself. This means a lot because as women we are often told who we should be, what we should do, and how we should do things. It is amazing to have a platform that is willing to help women be successful without compromising their uniqueness. 1. Cheslie Kryst (2019) Cheslie is one of my favorite Miss USAs because she has such a bubbly and cute personality that I can definitely relate to. She has a very warm persona that makes you feel like you've been her friend for years. A fun fact about Cheslie is that she is the very first lawyer to become Miss USA so not only is she beautiful but she's also very intelligent as well. 2. Kara McCullough (2017) Thr...

Curacao Review

Who needs Aruba when there's Curacao? Seriously though, my Curacao vacation has got to be one of the best vacations I've ever been on. Out of all of the ABC islands Curacao by far is the best one. At least in my opinion. Not only are the beaches absolutely stunning, but Willemstad is an absolute must. I don't usually recommend spending too much time in cities while vacationing in the Caribbean since they tend to be crowded and super hot. Although Curacao gets a number of tourists it is not as tourist infested as other popular destinations like Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, or Aruba. It has just the right amount. Take a stroll along the Queen Emma Bridge in the downtown center of Willemstad. After doing that you should check out the big Curacao sign in the city center. Willemstad has so many beautiful dutch colonial buildings. What makes them even better is the fact that they come in a variety of vibrant colors. It feels like a more colorful version of Amsterdam. When y...

Bahamas Review

Image
This is coming about 5 months late but here I go! Lol! In August I had the wonderful opportunity to go to the Bahamas. As a child I've always wanted to go there. Especially after seeing all those awesome Atlantis Resort commercials. I love aquariums! I think it's cool that Atlantis has an aquarium within the resort grounds. While walking around you can see sharks swimming in the ponds and its so awesome! I didn't get to stay at the Atlantis Resort but I ended up staying at the Junkanoo Beach Marriott where I had a great time. It's right on the beach and has two pools on the property. It also had a gym where I could get my daily workout in. JK! The staff was great and super fun to talk to. Through them I got to learn a lot of cool stuff about the Bahamas and which tourists spots are a hit and which are a miss. They also told me about some very interesting cultural events happening in Nassau that I really want attend next time I visit. One of my favorite things while ...

Exciting News!

Hey guys! Long time no chat! I have so many things I'm looking forward to this year. I will be working on some research, attending a summit, and also I will be traveling with on my best friends from middle school this year! I'm so happy she will be able to attend with me.There's so much that we can do! We will probably explore the Grenadines. Although I've been to St.Vincent almost every year of my life I have only been to two islands in the Grenadines. Only Bequia and Young Island. My cousin is living in Mustique at the moment so we will probably visit her. For those of you that don't know Mustique is an ultra private island. You basically more or less have to have permission to enter there. This is probably due to all of the celebrity tourists like Kate Middleton and Mick Jagger. I doubt they'll be there when we're there but you never know. I also really want us to go to Union Island. I would say it is one of the main islands in the Grenadines. I have a fr...

20 Things I've Learned in 20 Years

This year I was blessed to turn 20 years old. I can't believe it! Feels just like yesterday when I was playing with my barbies while watching Teletubbies. Now I'm in my third year of college and I can't hardly believe it. Through my 2 decades here on earth I've learned quite a few things about life that has helped me grow as a person. Today I am going to share these lessons with you! 1. The only person you can be is you. There is no point in trying to be someone else. Variety exists for a reason. If we were all the same life would be incredibly boring! 2. Doubting yourself will only sell yourself short. Enter each and every situation with optimism and confidence.  3. Don't be afraid to be bold. If you want something ask for it. 4. With confrontation it's best to be assertive and not aggressive. 5. The only person that can turn your dreams into a reality is you. 6. Never demand less than the best. 7. Always give your all in ...

Let's Have Some Pride

Image
. A few days ago my pastor was talking to us about pride during one of his sermons. He mentioned that  everyone deserves pride and self-respect. Often times we make the mistake of connecting self worth with superficial things such as money, attractiveness, and social status. Many of us feel that in order to command respect and attention we must be attractive like Beyonce, or as wealthy as Bill Gates, or a prominent social figure such as Barack Obama. The truth is that none of these things really matter. Yes all of the people I mentioned are successful in their own right and are extremely hard workers that are dedicated to what they do, but one very important thing that they all have in common is that they dared to believe themselves and take a chance.  Many of us make the awful mistake of devaluing ourselves and failing to take a chance to achieve our dreams. It's easy to look at others that came before you and think that they faced little to no hardships and that...
